Forum OpenACS Development: dead-link cleanup on openacs.org

Dear all,

Together with the preparation of the next release, i am performing regular improvements on the openacs.org website. One task is to reduce the number of dead links (by either correcting these links or by providing proper redirects). Since august this year, the number of broken links on openacs.org went from about 1500 down to now less than 200 (graphic from google's webmaster tools, a year ago, it was much higher):

There are more improvements possible, although on can't make to much against hopelessly broken links from other sites pointing to openacs.org. Overall, the navigation comfort on the documentation pages or in the wiki etc. will benefits from this cleanup.

all the best

We are now below 100 broken links.

This is not bad if one takes into account that we have currently 106.000 resources indexed on Google and Google reports 511,516 links pointing to openacs.org content.

all the best

Now we are down to 70.

However, this are just the number of broken links found by google pointing to openacs.org resources. This is not including outgoing links, where we have certainly still a long way to go.
